Judy Fairbairns moved to the Isle of Mull in 1978 and in her time there, amongst a myriad of achievements, developed and established the first whale and dolphin survey in UK waters. Her passion for creativity was, however, so overwhelming that at the age of 49 she embarked upon a journey which would consolidate all her talents and nurture a new found sense of fulfilment. Her creative passion manifested itself in a quite exquisite way. Through her art, Judy has captured her own "inner motion" and colours, creating an almost physical experience of her life, beautifully and sometimes blatantly expressed. Judy works from her studio on Mull, and has exhibited across Scotland. She is presently working on seven images commissioned by Glenmoriston Town House, Inverness, and an original canvas for JM Architects, Edinburgh.

Force 12 and Rising 55in x 65in oils 2005 £1500 My family spend their working lives on the sea. Up here, the wind and the sea can contrive a storm in minutes. I think often about them out there at the mercy of sea and sky. Sometimes, my imagination runs away with me. |
